Restore Social and Recreational Funding

Dear Friends,

I have just been alerted that the California Budget Conference Committee will be meeting tonight or tomorrow morning to discuss funding for developmental disability services. This committee, made up of a small group of Senators and Assemblymembers, will be discussing whether to restore the 2009 cuts made to respite, social/recreational programs, and camp (this includes horseback riding, swimming, gymnastics, music, dance, theater, summer camp, etc).

WE NEED CALLS MADE THIS AFTERNOON TO MEMBERS OF THE BUDGET CONFERENCE COMMITTEE!

HERE IS YOUR MESSAGE:

My name is ______________________ and I am a self-advocate/parent of a person with a developmental disability.

(If you live in their district:) I am a constituent. (they may ask you for your zip code or address)

I am calling to urge Senator/Assemblymember _____________ to restore the cuts for social/recreational programs and respite in the Developmental Disabilities budget. These programs are very important to our family.

Thank you.
